Rolling Kitchen

Another Rolling Kitchens festival for us – our fourth year (you can check the previous years by clicking here)

This year the festival was HUGE. The weather wasn’t really nice on Thursday which was such a shame however the other two days we went Amsterdam brought out the sun for the festival.

We really went all out this year and ate there three times; we always try to go for different foods but we somehow always end in a more traditional side. Burgers, pizza, pulled pork sandwiches…

This time I took pictures with the good old Canon, my iPhone and a GoPro. It was super tricky to do because so much was going on (we even saw a wedding going on nearby)

LIVE(ing) in Amsterdam

This past school year I was on exchange in England but now I am permanently back in Amsterdam again.

Thankfully, every other month I was back in the ´Dam to visit my soulmate.

This time however, coming back and knowing it was permanent brought so much happiness to me.

For the zillionth time Amsterdam made me appreciate all its beauty and simplicity.

There is just something about this place. There really is. I talk about Amsterdam with joy in my eyes and I don’t think people understand. People that come for a weekend can’t understand because they mostly run around to try to see all the tourist attractions and spend time in museums or maybe even in coffee shops.

I think you can only truly understand the beauty of Amsterdam when you are here for about a week and you have the freedom of a relaxing day to grab a bike and explore, go to the park and enjoy the sun, or rush back home after a rainy day to relax and drink tea. The freedom of getting lost, sitting still and people watching.

There are just so many small things that you need to live in Amsterdam to understand why this place has so much charm. So much magic.

I am so glad I am back. I missed living life in Amsterdam.

Sun in January

Welcome to Amsterdam 2014!

The weather has been good this January. Sunny days, cloudy days, not too cold, bits of rain….  Not too bad. I haven’t taken pictures around Amsterdam in a while so I decided that in the first few days of 2014 it was a nice time to get back into the habit – especially with all these clear skies and people out and about.

This was also the day that I encountered my name and advice referenced a few times in a book for new expats. I am so happy that I shared my experiences with them and that they actually published some of my tips about living in The Netherlands. Check out the book: Ready, steady, Go Dutch.

A Portuguese artist tours in Amsterdam

In the final weeks of October Flavio was in Amsterdam giving a small tour.

In 7 days he performed in 6 places.

I obviously took the advantage of taking pictures of some of his gigs.

Also, he recorded a live video at Vondelpark with Manon Planting.

The storm

 There was this huge storm in Amsterdam a few days ago and while the storm was going on Amsterdam was still moving, slower but still on the go.

Overtoom 301

Overtoom 301 is this really awesome squat building that supports artists to live and work together. You can read more about them and visit their awesome site here.

A few days ago I had the privilege to go there. Flavio is here touring in Amsterdam and he was going to play live for radio Patapoe which is located in the building.

The place is amazing! They have this really nice restaurant and some graffiti walls going on one side of the building.

The building gave me a sense of struggle vs. accomplishment for others it gives them a sense of history in the making. I am sure that every person that goes there feels something different and that is why I recommend for you, reader, to go and check it out for yourself!
